It hard to believe that the M’s would take the field much less dominate the way they did on Friday without the once in a generation (baby boomer) prospect Will Ferell they acquired in a “trade”with the A’s who they “traded” 10 minutes later on Thursday. You might have thought that given Ferell’s ‘” career”as an A’s shortstop that they might have given Will the chance to tryout for the Seattle shortstop job, but they have two young guys Brad Miller and Chris Taylor who are making very hard on the Mariners brain trust to decide who will be their shortstop on opening day. Both players are swinging hot bats and making plays in the field. Robinson Cano be away attending his grandfather’s funeral( I find it sadly ironic that Cano’s grandfather died of cancer. Ferell played 2nd on Thursday for Seattle to raise money for two cancer related charities.) has given the M’s a spot to put both guys in the lineup at the same time. They helped thump the Brewers Friday 10 -5 . My advice to fantasy owners is don’t draft Miller or Taylor until you where and how much they ar going to play.
